Nerd out on these Books
This book is the book that kickstarted my own personal journey to make better money decisions. There are so many valuable lessons in this book and I refer back to it all the time because they are testimonials from other people that motivate me even further! Love this book and I highly recommend it! But be careful, it’s a life changer!
Start
by John Acuff
Jon Acuff is super funny when he writes so I enjoy laughing while reading this motivating book. If you have no idea how to START achieving your goals in life then this is the book for you. It doesn’t matter what age you are, you can start anything you want if you put your mind to it. He also goes into detail on how to refine your skills to make you so much better and experienced. Put it on your reading list!
Budgeting & Saving Tools
I’ve used the large envelope system in the past that hold all of your categories of money in one product but I find them to be big and bulky. I don’t need all of that cash sometimes if I’m just running out to the grocery store to buy a few things. So far, I love these envelopes because they are slim, durable, it’s quick to get into because it’s held closed by a magnet, and I can pick which envelopes I need for the day instead of taking the whole thing of envelopes. Totally recommend them!
Meal planning is hard enough to try and determine what lunches/dinners your family is having for the week. So why make it harder by using paper flyers? Flipp is my go-to (FREE) App that has ALL of the flyers I need in one area. AND, you can create a favorites section on there so you don’t have to search every time for your favorite stores’ flyers. It’s made my meal planning soooo much easier!
Want cash back on items you were going to buy anyway? iBotta is the App to use then! I love this FREE tool and I use it daily when I purchase everyday items like groceries, household items, and anything on Amazon. So if you want to earn back money on your family’s everyday purchases to put towards your financial goals, then SIGN UP!!
Awesome Calculators
There are plenty of debt pay off calculators out there, but my go-to is the NerdWallet version. I use it with my clients to help them see clearly how long it will take them to reach their debt pay off goals using either the snowball method or the avalanche method. It also allows you to see how fast you can pay off debt if you put extra money towards your debt. For example, if you put an extra $200 a month towards your debt, it will show you how much FASTER you’ll accomplish your goal. Great tool to see your plan CLEARLY!
Want to know if you're investing enough for retirement to retire comfortably? This tool is amazing because it tells you how much you should be investing to achieve the lifestyle you want when you retire AND if you are already investing, it will tell you what your current investments will be worth if you don’t add anything else. It’s a powerful tool that I highly recommend to everyone!
